Work is recommencing to reconstruct the dilapidated wooden Children's Garden Staircase in High Park, leading from Colborne Lodge Drive down to Grenadier Pond, into a metal staircase. This will require Colborne Lodge Road to be closed to vehicles from West Road, just south of the Grenadier Restaurant, to the Queensway so the prefabricated metal sections of stairs and landings can be brought on-site and installed with a Crane. The City anticipates that the road will be closed for a period of two weeks (weather permitting), from Tuesday, May 23rd to Friday, June 1st.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the road up to the service pathway to the north and the Children's Garden to the south. The road will however be closed to pedestrians and cyclists at the construction site. They will not be able to traverse directly from West Road to the Queensway on Colborne Lodge Road.
The Children's Garden will be open. Children and teachers will be escorted by Children's Garden Staff to and from the facility. Colborne Lodge will also be open but visitors will not be able to drive directly there using Colborne Lodge Road. Signs will be posed by Park Staff at the High Park entryways, the Colborne Lodge Road closure locations and at the work site.
