I wanted to make sure you are all aware that the first public meeting for the High Park North Character Study will be taking place on Wednesday, October 25, at 7:00 pm in the Humberside Collegiate Institute auditorium (280 Quebec Avenue).
Back in April 2017, I moved a motion at Community Council that an area-based character study for the Apartment Neighbourhoods designated lands located north of Bloor Street West, west of Keele Street, south of Glenlake Avenue and east of Gothic Avenue, be undertaken. This meeting will kick off the Character Study process, allowing residents and property owners an opportunity to express their opinions and make enquiries of staff. At the meeting applications to join the working group will also be distributed. If you are unable to attend the meeting I will also have the applications posted online, once they are available.
As I am sure you are aware, since the two public meetings for the development proposals, both GWL and Minto have appealed their applications to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB). While an OMB appeal takes control out of the City's hands, both parties have stated they are willing to work with the City and the community at large to help shape their proposals. While we don't know the extent of the changes the proponents are willing to make, the Character Study is an important way to have your voice heard, and share what you want to see in your community.
I look forward to seeing you on the 25th!
