After a lot of hard work and determination from our community, I have some wonderful news to share. The Bloor Street West Planning Study, as well as the Bloor West Village and Baby Point Heritage Conservation District have all been approved for study in 2016.
At the end of last year, following my Bloor Street Town Hall, a working group was established to prepare for the Bloor Street Study should it be approved. This means we are able to hit the ground running, as the City looks to tender out the project. There will be a great deal of community consultation open to everyone, so be prepared to think about what makes Bloor Street important to you.
The two Heritage Conservation District (HCD) studies should be starting in late fall, after the previously approved group of studies have been completed. These studies are the first steps into turning an area into an HCD, which will result in a number of consultations with those that own property, businesses, or homes within the area. In regards to Bloor West Village, the HCD and Planning Study will be able to overlap, allowing for information to be shared, and all involved to be better informed.
We will have more information in the months to come, but in the meantime I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this a reality. There's still more to do, but our hard work will help create better communities moving forward.
